You can apply for a Standard Visitor visa if you want to visit the UK for leisure, for instance, on holiday, to see your family and friends, for business, to take part in sports or creative events
for another reason, for example, to receive private medical treatment. You must always demonstrate that you will leave the UK at the end of your visit and that you can support yourself and any dependents for the duration of your trip. You must also show that you will be able to pay for your return or onward journey and any other costs relating to your visit. You have proof of any business or other activities you want to do in the UK.
Standard Visitor visas may be issued for a period of up to six months. There are also long-term visitor visas which are issued for one year, two year, five years or ten years. Long-term visitor visas tend to be issued to trusted travellers who have built up a good immigration record. But a person who holds a long-term visitor visa is not allowed to stay in the UK for more than 180 days per year.
You can speak with our Immigration and Asylum Practitioner to carry out a comprehensive assessment of your circumstances and advice you on how to make a successful application under any of these categories.
